Manager of Software Development Group No.2
Graphic Design / 1986
Katsuya Eguchi was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1965. Eguchi is a graphic artist, planner, and game designer, working for the development department of Nintendo Co., Ltd. Eguchi graduated from the Computer Graphics Department of Japan Electronics College and was initially quite unsure about applying for a job at Nintendo. Eguchi admits that while he liked video games, he would often go to the arcades to play them. Infact, Eguchi never owned a video game console. Eguchi decided to join Nintendo as a graphic designer and immediately began working on Famicom Grand Prix: F-1 Race.
Katsuya Eguchi was recognized for his talents, and Shigeru Miyamoto placed him on the Super Mario Bros. 3 team as a level designer. Eguchi would go on to direct several games including Star Fox, Wave Race 64, and Animal Forest.
In 2004, Katsuya Eguchi became the Manager and Producer of Software Development Group No.2 of EAD Software Development Department in the Entertainment Analysis & Development Division. Eguchi now manages and produces several projects including Animal Crossing and Wii Sports.
